Junior B Ladies Football Championship Semi-Final
Clarecastle 7-7 Fergus Rovers 0-8

Clarecastle ladies football team have made it into the Junior B final after taking a goal-laden win over Fergus Rovers in Frure last Friday evening when their semi-final ended 6-08 to 0-07 in favour of the Magpies. The Clarecastle side have had a one hundred percent success rate this year in the competition and have taken the laurels over novice clubs such as Moy and East Clare Gaels but have also taken on and defeated the second teams of more established clubs such as the Banner Ladies and Fergus Rovers.

In Lisseycasey last Friday, against Fergus Rovers, Clarecastle powered to the Junior B Championship Final when comprehensively accounting for Fergus Rovers on away soil.  With Edel Dillon, Doireann Murphy, Lauren Tuohy and Elaine Lyons in excellent scoring form, the Magpies started strongly and never looked back. Midfielders Mary Kate Moloney and Alex Potter controlled the centre while centre-forward Sharon Quinn also put in a hard working hour by drifting back and winning vital possession around the centre. However, the Player-of-the-Game was undoubtedly Under 15 star Ally Fleming who was like a wall in the full-back line and never let anything pass her which contributed to Fergus Rovers' frustration in front of goal.

The Magpies are due to meet Shannon-based Wolfe Tones in the Junior B County Final having met in round one of the competition in early July when Clarecastle ended up comprehensive winners. However, since then Wolfe Tones have put in several strong performances themselves taking on and despatching Banner Ladies 2 twice in the space of a week. The final will be an evenly matched and much anticipated affair. Date and venue to be announced.
